In this part of my discussion of Mary Sues, we'll talk about how I feel to be avoid making them. Keep in mind, like I mentioned in my earlier post, that this is purely objective. A character may fall into different categories of what constitutes a Mary Sue, or they could be the most original character in existence, but if poorly written and developed, the character can come off flat and uninteresting. For example, let's take a good look at Bella from Twilight. I know she's our favorite Mary Sue punching bag, but let's really think about her character. She's whiny, pretentious, shallow, moody, and drags around these poor boys in a messy love

Obviously, because of my blog, I get many questions about what I consider to be a Mary Sue (or Gary Stu). I have people asking me how to avoid them and how to make interesting and compelling characters. So I decided I would try to form my own entry on this. Keep in mind that I'm in no way an expert on characters.
